This program accelerates the launch of your idea. Get the tools, training, and mentorship you need to launch your small business with confidence. This 12-session, facilitator-led program is designed to help you turn your idea into a viable business. You will learn how to identify your target customer, clearly communicate what you are offering, and differentiate yourself from the competition. You’ll also gain insights into pricing and profitability and develop the perfect pitch to showcase your business. Whether you’re starting from scratch or refining an idea, this program gives you the foundation to move forward with clarity and purpose.
A business plan is essential for success—it’s a living document that grows and evolves with your business. In Part 2 of our business course series, you’ll learn how to create a strong, effective business plan tailored to your goals. This in-person, seven-week course provides the tools and guidance you need to build a solid foundation for your venture. The Business Plan class is available to Co.Starters graduates.
Launch your entrepreneurial journey this summer! Our 7-week Summer Youth Entrepreneurship Program is a summer employment opportunity that gives Elmira High School students the tools, mentorship, and real-world experience they need to bring a business idea to life. You will participate in college, manufacturing, and industry field trips; hear from guest facilitators; and explore career pathways through hands-on learning. Students are also provided with a laptop. Whether you already have an idea or just want to learn what it takes to be an entrepreneur, this program is for you.

A makerspace is where people can work on projects while sharing ideas, equipment and knowledge. Our Elmira makerspace is available to the entrepreneurs in our program and equipped with everything needed to get from the earliest spark of an idea to the first physical prototype. This includes 2 single-color 3D printers and a new multicolor 3D printer that can handle four types of filament at once. A Glowforge laser cutter handles all sorts of 2D projects in wood or acrylic. The Cricut machine cuts vinyl for decals and iron-ons. A computerized embroidery / sewing machine plus a T-shirt station can help with a wide-variety of branding needs for your business. All of this with expert help on hand to help guide you through the process.

The Startup Collegiate Competitions gives students hands-on experience developing business ideas using the Business Model Canvas. Student teams work with industry and academic mentors to prepare a pitch, then compete for cash and in-kind prizes before a panel of judges.
To date, seven competitions have provided over 150 students from Alfred State College, Alfred University, Corning Community College, Elmira College, and Houghton University with this exciting opportunity. Stay tuned for 2026!
